Premier Global NIT Recap

While rain is desperately needed in our beautiful state of California, rain and baseball don't make the best combination.  Sadly, some much needed rain came through and made the fields at Big League Dreams Riverside and West Covina unplayable.  Fountain Valley escaped unscathed from Saturday's rains, and led to beautiful weather on Sunday to finish out some exciting divisions.

10-Under:
Having only given up three total runs in their first three games, the Cali Rage were feeling confident about their chances in the Championship game.  It wasn't until they went up against the also undefeated Southbay Surf that they faced their first difficult challenge of the weekend.

Both teams struck early, starting the game with two runs each in the 1st Inning.  Cali Rage pitcher Aaron Garcia regain his composure, and threw five strong innings.  He gave up one run in the 3rd Inning, before coming out in the 5th.  The Surf did addition damage, taking a 5-2 lead into the Bottom of the 5th Inning.

Having confidence in their bats however, the Rage went on a tear of their own, putting up 5 Runs in the bottom of the 5th to give them their first lead of the day.   Combined efforts from Richard Teleck and Manny Soto shut down the Surf in the top of the 6th, giving the Rage an exciting comeback victory.

11-Under:
After a 2-0 Saturday, Hustle Baseball Club moved on to Sunday needing to win three straight games to take home first place.  In game one, they comfortably won 10-2 to advance to the Semifinals.   However, their hot bats disappeared for their second playoff game.  Luckily, Johnny Morales came ready to throw.  Throwing four stellar innings, he allowed just two runs, keeping the Hustle in the game.  The Hustle offense plated three runs, and Ian Shafer came in to close the game, moving the Hustle on to the Championship game.

Rejuvenated with an exciting win, the Hustle's bats came back to life, and behind Mason Dabalack's complete game, the Hustle were able to take a 10-3 Championship victory with them, completing their undefeated weekend.

Thank you to all the teams that played in the Premier Global NIT.  Here are your Champions and Runner Ups.
