We close out an incredible 2013 Season with our week long 7-Under, 8-Under, and 9-13 AA World Series. Monday, August 5th saw upwards of 80 teams from as close as Chino Hills, and as far away as Alaska fill up Big League Dreams Chino Hills for food, fun, and a lot of pin trading before play gets under way on Monday.

July 24th, 2012 - Opening Ceremonies Recap
World Series Recap – 7-24-12
On a typical tournament weekend, Big League Dreams Chino Hills will have at most, eighteen teams in their park; twelve teams playing on the six fields, and six more waiting to play on those fields. If you estimate that each team brings approximately 50 people per team (12 players, 3 coaches, roughly 35 parents and siblings), then you’re looking at about 1,000 people maximum in the park at any given time. The Opening Ceremonies for the 2012 Western World Series aimed to push Big League Dreams Chino Hills to their limits. By 5:00 PM, there were over 80 teams in the park, plus 10 different vendors, along with the extra USSSA and Big League Dreams staff called in to help run the park. A safe estimate would say that there were over 5,000 people in the park, trading pins, shopping, socializing, and generally having a good time.

April 1st, 2012 - Fool's Gold Recap
Welcome to the Weekly Recap at the Baseball First Blog. This section has unfortunately been neglected since we unveiled our redesigned website in May 2011, but we are going to be providing recaps after each tournament as well as updates and news about upcoming tournaments.
2012 Fool’s Gold
With the threat of rain in the forecast and the overcast skies on Saturday morning, there were no guarantees that we would be playing on Sunday. Thankfully after a little bit of rain Saturday night after all the games had finished, the clouds blew out and provided us with a beautiful sunny Sunday to play some baseball. We did have a first for our program at Big League Dreams Riverside when a swarm of bees descended onto Vero during the Semi-Final game between the Rockhounds and the Cougars. The games unfortunately had to be cancelled because of the safety risk the bees posed for the players, coaches, umpires, fans and tournament staff. There’s a first time for everything.
Here are the winners and runners up from the 2012 Fool’s Gold.
