World Series Opening Ceremonies Recap - August 6th, 2013

We close out an incredible 2013 Season with our week long 7-Under, 8-Under, and 9-13 AA World Series.  Monday, August 5th saw upwards of 80 teams from as close as Chino Hills, and as far away as Alaska fill up Big League Dreams Chino Hills for food, fun, and a lot of pin trading before play gets under way on Monday.

The boys (especially the 13-Under teams), were in for a special treat, with So Cal Beauty Pageant winners walking the park.  Here, the East Bay Bandits take advantage of the Southern Californian hospitality and have their photos taken with two of the Queens.

Vendors from all over the United States set up their booths with great deals, and unique products.  Mr. Wristband made the trip from Arizona again, selling custom numbered and colored wristbands, all ready to go in just a few minutes (he will be at the parks on Tuesday and Wednesday).  ComBat came out again with cheap bats and great deals on all kinds of Baseball Gear.  Baseball Youth Roadshow got their truck fixed, and made it out for this World Series, giving the kids a dozen tents to try out stuff for free.

After the teams checked in and had their fill of shopping, teams lined up on Tiger and Wrigley to get ready for the Opening Ceremonies.

On Yankee Stadium, the 7-Under, 8-Under, 9-Under and 10-Under were treated to a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem sung by Big League Dreams employee, Dionna Rangel.

And then they were visited by Beauty Queens Brooklyn Bizzle, and Melanie Mitchell.

On Crosley Field, the 11-Under, 12-Under and 13-Unders were treated to a visit from former Anaheim Angel, Los Angeles Dodgers and World Series Champion Adam Kennedy.  Adam has an 11-Under team entered in the tournament through his Kennedy Baseball Academy.  He talked about what an honor it is to watch these young players develop, and reminded everyone that people make mistake, even big leaguers.

After Opening Ceremonies, it was time to eat.  Players and coaches were treated to a Hot Dog dinner, courtesy of Big League Dreams.

After filling up on hot dogs and snacks, the teams got their arms and legs loose to get ready for the Annual Skills Competitions.  Here is a list of the Winners and Runner-Ups in the Skills Contest.

Thank you to all the teams that attended the Opening Ceremonies.  Best of luck to all the teams during the week.

See you on the fields
