11-Under:
After three Pool Play games, the Warriors and OC Friars advanced as the 1st and 2nd Seeds. In their first meeting, the Warriors outlasted the Friars with a 3-2 victory.
Now with both teams in the Championship game, a hard fought game was sure to happen. With the Friars taking the lead, solid pitching and defense allowed them to hold the Warriors to just 4 runs. The Friars widened their lead, and took home the 7-4 upset and Championship victory.
14-Under:
Heading into Sunday at 1-1, Kennedy Baseball had their work cut out for them if they wanted to take home 1st Place. Off to a good start in their quaterfinal game, they took a 5-0 victory to the Semifinals. Now up against the 7th Seed LV Titans (who upset the 2nd Seed), Kennedy would need to repeat their Saturday performance against the Titans to advance to the finals. Doing just that, they took an 8-4 victory into the Championship game.
Now facing the 1st Seed Tustin Knights, a team that had only given up 3 runs in three games, Kennedy would need to bring their best offense and defense. Despite being their third game of the day, Kennedy's pitchers held the hard hitting Knights to just 2 runs. With their defense on point, the offense did their job as well, putting up 5 runs against the near perfect Knight's defense. Holding on to their 5-2 lead, Kennedy completed a three game Sunday playoff run to take home the upset and 1st Place.
Thank you to all the teams that played in the 2014 March Madness. Here is a list of the Champions and Runner-Ups.
See you on the fields
