The Major League Baseball Season may be over with football and basketball in full stride (hockey is no where to be found), but that doesn't mean that we won't stop playing. With incredible November weather and 2013's schedule shaping up nicely, we will be playing baseball until next spring when MLB starts up again.
9-Under:
The BC Prospects brought their hitting sticks on Sunday. After going 0-2 on Saturday, they came into Sunday's games as the 5th Seed. Not content with their Saturday hitting performance, they made the adjustments and swung the bats like they knew they could. Scoring 13 runs in their Quarterfinal game, they advanced to face the 1st Seed in the Semifinal game. They may have given up 13 runs, but they scored a whopping 16 runs to upset the 1st Seed and advance to the finals.
In the Championship game, they would face the Pomona Titans. The Titans had defeated the Prospects on Saturday, and were looking to repeat on Sunday. The Prospects (now on their third game of the day), did not slow down their hitting. Unlucky for them though, the Titans brought their bats too, and were able to edge out the Prospects 16-15.
10-Under:
The 10-Under Championship saw the 1st and 2nd Seeds battling it out for 1st Place. 2nd Seed Pomona Titans had to battle 3rd Seed Ruffnecks to advance to the finals. Both teams were hitting the ball hard, and the Titans were able to hold them of for a 12-11 win. The Monarchs advanced to the finals with their 7-3 Semifinal win. Both teams battled hard, but the Titans were able to hold off the Monarchs for a 7-6 victory.
12-Under Lower:
The Santa Barbara Riptide without a doubt traveled the longest way to play last weekend. After going 1-1 on Saturday, they entered Sunday as the 4th Seed. Not content with an early exit from the playoffs, they made an incredible run to the Championship. In their Quarterfinal game, they found themselves down 3-2 heading into the bottom of the fifth. Not ready to go home quite yet, they scored 6 runs in the bottom of the fifth, giving them an 8-6 victory. They advanced to the Semifinal game, where they would face the 1st Seed So Cal Bearcats. Still pumped up from their first victory, they scored 5 runs in the top of the 1st Inning, and never looked back, winning 12-4. In the Championship game, they would have to face the So Cal Stars Black. The Stars gave Riptide their one loss on Saturday in a close 3-2 game. Despite being on their third game of the day, the Riptide didn't slow down, putting up 11 runs and keeping the Stars to just 8. Nothing like a 1st place trophy to make a 3 hour drive go a little smoother.
13-Under Lower:
The Pasadena Stars took an identical path to the Championship that The Santa Barbara Riptide did. After going 1-1 on Sunday, they won their Semifinal game with a hard fought 4-3 victory. Facing the 1st Seed in the Semifinal game, they scored in 5 of the 6 innings for an 11-3 victory, advancing them to the Finals. They would go up against Brea Blaze, the team that beat them on Saturday. Ready to upset, they kept their bats hot, putting up 11 runs in their long Sunday to 1st Place.
Thank you to all the teams that play in the 2012 Legend. Here is a complete list of the Champions and Runner Ups.
See you on the fields
