President's Day Global NIT Recap

9-Under:
In possibly the hardest road to the finals, the NLB Waves did what they had to do to stay alive.  After going 1-3 in Pool Play, the NLB Waves entered the playoffs as the 5th Seed.  Stuck in the visitors dugout throughout the playoffs, the Waves got to work putting runs across the plate and found a way to win.  In their Quarterfinal game, they outscored their opponent 9-8 to move to the Semifinals.

In another wild game, they upset the 1st Seed with a 13-10 hit fest.  Now onto the Championship game, Robby Schoeffer took the mound in the Bottom of the 1st.   With a 7-0 lead in the Bottom of the 1st, Robby struggled to throw strikes and gave up five runs to make it a close game headed into the 2nd Inning.  After that, Schoeffer was lights out.  Giving up just 1 run in the next three innings, the Waves bats went to work, scoring 8 more runs to give the Waves a hard earned 15-6 Championship victory.

11-Under and 12-Under Upper:
The Cal Select have consistently produced top caliber teams.  Both the 11-Under and 12-Under teams were entered in Upper divisions of their respective divisions.  They each went 5-1 in their tournaments, taking solid Pool Play games and converting that to lights out playoff performance, and giving both teams a 1st Place Finish.

This was the 11-Under's first tournament of the Season, and the 12-Under's third 1st Place finish in five tournaments this year.

13-Under:
The two standout teams in the 13-Under was Visalia Oaks Baseball and California Rippers.  Both teams took undefeated Pool Play records to the playoffs.  After shutout Semifinal wins, the two 5-0 teams met for a final championship.

Visalia scored five early runs, giving their defense a little room to breath.  The Rippers didn't go down without a fight though.  Scoring three runs to put them in a position to do some damage, Visalia was determined to take the 1st Place trophy back to Visalia with them.  After shutting down the Rippers, the defense held the line, and gave Visalia Oaks Baseball a 1st Place finish in their first tournament of the year.

Thank you to all the teams that played in the President's Day Global NIT.  Here are your Champions and Runner Ups.
