Easter Classic Recap - April 2nd, 2013

It is the most wonderful time of the year.  Major League Baseball is in full swing.  Both the Angels and Dodgers started off their season with a win, and from our Facebook page, it seems like allegiances are split right down the middle (with some Yankee fans thrown in for good measure).  The Angels and the Dodgers made some huge off season acquisitions, only time will tell if they will pay off.

Six of the Seven divisions playing on Easter weekend were won by undefeated teams.  Combined, they went 24-0 and outscored opponents 246-72.  Only the 14-Under division was won by a team that didn't go undefeated all weekend.

14-Under:
The So Cal Renegades entered Sunday as the 3rd Seed with an 0-1-1 record.  A 1-1 Tie in their first game of the day against the Outlaws would come to a story book conclusion with the two teams facing each other in the Championship game, but not before both teams got some revenge.

The Renegades found themselves against the 2nd Seed Bombers in their first game of Sunday.  The Bombers and squeaked by the Renegades on Saturday with an 8-7 win.  Knowing they had what it took to compete with the Bombers, the Renegades came in firing on Sunday, scoring 10 runs and advancing to the finals.

The Outlaws had a longer road to the Championship game.  After winning their quarter final game, they had to face the Dodger Rookies.  The two teams had a 13-11 slugfest on Saturday, with the Dodgers coming out on top.  Sunday's game was just as close, but both teams couldn't find their groove at the plate.  The Outlaws were able to hold off the Outlaws with a 5-4 victory.

This took us to the Championship game, a rematch of their game on Saturday.  The first time they played, they tied 1-1, so it was only fitting that they were able to play again to settle it once and for all.  Unfortunately the Outlaws were on their third game of the day, and feeling the the effects of that.   The Renegades pitching was on point and bats were in the zone.  They shut them out 9-0, and took home the 1st Place Trophy.

Thank you to all the teams that played on Easter Weekend.  Here is a list of the Champions and Runner Ups.

See you on the fields
