9-Under Red:
Through the first days of Pool Play, the LA Pegadores looked unbeatable. Giving up just 13 runs in four Pool Play games, they entered the Playoffs as a comfortable 1st Seed. It was not smooth sailing from there on out however.
Facing the 4th Seed So Cal Outlaws in the first game of Playoffs, the Outlaws were looking for some payback. The Pegadores took an early 4-0 lead by the 3rd Inning. With a pitching change, the Outlaws were able to jump on the new arm with a three runs on just one out before a new pitcher got out of the inning.
Evening the game up in the top of the 5th, it was a new game between the two teams. With the game rolling into and past the 6th Inning, extra innings were necessary. Bringing in their fourth pitcher of the game, Kevin Villegas sat down the Outlaws in order, giving their bats a chance to win the game.
The Outlaws pitcher, having shut down the Pegadores for the last three innings, got the ball back to try to shut them out for another inning. After getting one out, the Pegadores showed why they were the first seed. Not buckling under pressure, the Pegadores manufactured a walk off run to send them to the Semifinals.
Playing back to back, the Pegadores semifinal game played out rather similarly to their first playoff game. Tied 5-5 after the 4th Inning, they fell behind 6-5 to 2nd Seed PB Academy. PB Academy, trying to save pitching for Sunday's games, brought in a new pitching in the Bottom of the 6th in an attempt to close out the game.
The Pegadores welcomed this change, and jumped on him for two runs to win the game and advance to the Championship.
Bright and early Sunday Morning, the Pegadores and PB Academy found themselves facing each other yet again. In the modified playoff format, the winner of this game would take home 1st Place. Not looking to reenact Saturday's close games, the Pegadores put their ace, Jesse Rodriguez on the hill. Keeping PB Academy confused and off balance, Rodriguez was able to throw 5 1/3 scoreless innings before Hayden Marsh came in, recorded the final two outs, and gave the Pegadores their 1st Place finish.
9-Under White - Information Provided by Menace BBC Coach Bob Hess
Suffering some early setbacks in the tournament, Menace BBC advanced to the Playoffs as the 6th Seed. The following information was provided by their Coach, Bob Hess.
So proud of the Menace BBC 9u team.
We battled adversity to go undefeated over the weekend and win the World Series White Championship.
We lost our clean-up hitter, starting pitcher and catcher after the first game of the tournament and our team looked to be broken. The coaches and boys rallied. Alex Cruz caught almost every inning for us in 100+ degree weather and was out team MVP.
Anthony Tafoya was our dugout leader while Willis Lacy, Cade Johnson, Dylan Fien and Bobby Hess delivered strong pitching performances.
Our bats were led by Collin Boulware, Willis Lacy and Dylan Chaiyakum with clutch hits by Gavin Abbe, Bobby Hess, Riley Ricken.
However, it was our sparkling defense that carried us to the Championship. Riley Ricken, Alex Cruz, Collin Boulware and Charlie Morri were outstanding, while the rest of the team battled the sun to make great catch after great catch.
We celebrated our championship at Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlor in Riverside. A perfect ending to a perfect week of baseball.
Thank you to USSSA and Global Sports! We have had a blast at many of your tournaments this season. See you next year."
Thank you Coach Hess and the Menace BBC. We'll see you in 2015
10-Under Red - Photos and Information Provided by Easton Elite
Going 3-1 through Pool Play, Easton Elite entered the Playoffs as the 4th Seed. Winning their first playoff game 12-1, they turned right around and had to face the 1st Seed So Cal Knights in a double header. The Knights pitching was able to cool off Easton's bats, but the Knights were unable to figure out Easton's pitching, with Vincent Segovia and Angelo Aleman both throwing three innings each, and holding the 1st Seed Knights to just one run over 6 Innings.
With the Quarterfinal upset, Easton Elite moved on to the Semifinals to face the So Cal Outlaws. The Outlaws gave Easton their only loss in Pool Play, so Easton was looking for some hearty payback.
Another pitching duel took shape in this hard fought semifinal game. After his three brilliant innings on Saturday, Vincent Segovia gave Easton five innings of two run baseball. He would have thrown the whole game, but he reached his pitching limit for the tournament. Lucas Mistone wasn't going to let him down though. Lucas came in and threw a perfect 6th Inning, giving Easton yet another chance to win the game late.
A couple of timely hits, and Easton took a walk off base hit to the Championship game.
Now up against the So Cal Knights yet again, Easton knew they couldn't take anything lightly with the dangerous Knights team. The So Cal Knights jumped out to an early lead after the 1st Inning, hoping their pitching would be able to work with a 3-1 lead. However, the Knights had played extra games through the Loser's Bracket, leaving their pitching staff thin and tired.
Easton was able to scratch and claw a few more runs across the plate, taking a 4-3 lead into the 6th Inning. Unable to figure out Easton Elite's Jesus Villalobos on the mound, the Knights finally tagged him for a run tying the game at 4-4 in the Top of the 6th. Unable to score in the Bottom of the 6th, the two evenly matched teams took the game into extra innings. Easton's Manager Alex Villalobos had faith in his son Jesus on the hill, and sent him out to take on the Knights in the top of the 7th. Shutting them down, Easton entered the Bottom of the 7th with a chance for a walk off victory.
Easton only needed one run for the victory, but number two batter Luke Mistone wasn't content with just one. Luke had a home run in every game in the tournament leading up to the Championship game. With one man on, Luke kept his streak alive, sending a rocket over the fence to a walk off 2-Run home run. At the end of the tournament, Luke deservedly was named the Team MVP.

11-Under Red:
An opening round upset in the Playoffs sent 3rd Seed Cory Lidle Baseball down to the Loser's Bracket early in the tournament. Cory Lidle Baseball consistently produces some of the best teams in the country, so an early drop to the Loser's Bracket was unexpected. What wasn't unexpected was their bounce back and subsequent surge through the rest of the tournament.
Playing a double header after that opening round loss, they put up 12 runs to move on to the next round in the Losers Bracket. Though their pitching and defense wasn't air tight, they consistently outscored their opponents until reaching the championship game, where they unleashed their ace pitcher, Andrew Rodriguez. Rodriguez needed just four innings to shut down the 4th Seed while the offense stayed consistent, scoring eight runs to give Cory Lide the 8-0 shutout victory.
12-Under Red:
The 12-Under Division was the biggest of the tournament. With 18 teams competing, only the top six advanced to the top playoff bracket. With three undefeated teams, and two 3-1 teams, competition would be tough throughout the entirety of the playoffs.
2nd Seed Marucci Sun Devils were one of those undefeated teams. After winning their quarterfinal game, and their semifinal game, they found themselves in the Championship game against their semifinal opponents.
The California Bruins jumped out to an early lead, going up 4-0 against the undefeated Sun Devils. The Bruins starting pitcher reached his pitching limit after four innings, and the Sun Devils took this opportunity to strike. Scoring three runs in the 5th Inning, the score was 4-3 headed into the 6th Inning. The Bruins tacked on one insurance run, giving them a 5-3 lead going into the bottom of the final inning.
With the same pitcher on the hill, the Sun Devils loaded the bases up with two outs. A hard hit ball to center should have sealed the game for the Bruins, but it bounced out of the Center Fielder's glove, tying the the game at 5-5. The next batter put the ball in the gap, scoring the game winning run, and capping of an exciting come back for the Sun Devils.
13-Under:
In their first matchup in the Playoffs, Team USA completely dominated the So Cal Rippers. The Rippers were unable to figure out Team USA, and eventually fell 13-3 to move them to the Loser's Bracket.
Not ready to give up just yet, the Rippers fought their way through the playoffs, eventually finding themselves up against Team USA once again in the Championship game.
Coming back with a vengeance, the Rippers came out swinging, scoring 3 runs in the top of the 1st. With four more runs in the 3rd Inning, the Rippers took a commanding 7-1 lead. Bolstered by Reilly Griffin's stellar five innings of one run baseball, the Rippers brought in Caleb Jung to finish off the game. Sitting Team USA down in order, Jung closed the game out for the Rippers, sending them home with their 1st Place finish.
Thank you to all the teams that played in the Global World Series. Here is a list of the Champions and Runner Ups.
See you on the fields
