As our season winds to an end, the competition is heating up. Thirteen and Fourteen year olds are getting ready for High School ball, teams in all age brackets are getting ready for the Elite World Series, and our Global and AA World Series are just around the corner. Bat Wars is Southern California's last Super NIT of the season, and teams are going to be battling hard to secure that last Southern California berth to the Elite World series. The super busy Memorial Day weekend is a month away, and we already have teams from around the country signed up to play. It's going to be a busy summer, but I wouldn't want it any other way.
BLD Riverside:
13-Under:
The Rox Black had a one run loss to the eventual 1st Seed that bumped them down to the 4th Seed. Not content to finish their weekend as the 4th Seed, they won their quarter final game, putting them against the 1st Seed in the Semifinals. After another one run game, the result was reversed, and the Rox advanced to the Championship game.
Pumped up and on a roll from their huge upset, the Rox continued their streak against the 2nd Seed with a 7-5 victory to take home 1st Place.
14-Under:
The Phenom program proved why they are consistently one of the top rated teams in the country. The 13-Under team played up to compete with the 14-Under teams as they often do. Even after losing a 1-0 game on Saturday, they snuck into Sunday as the 4th Seed. Finding their bats that abandoned them in their one loss, they scored 11 runs against both the 1st and 2nd Seeds to take home the 14-Under 1st Place trophy.
Steed Park, San Clemente:
13-Under:
Never judge a book by it's cover. The Dirt Dawgs entered Sunday as the 5th Seed with 2 losses, but they weren't going to let that dictate their Sunday. After winning their Semifinal game, they faced the 1st Seed, one of the two teams that handed them a loss on Saturday. Recharged with precise pitching, they upset the 1st Seed with a 5-1 victory. Keeping the momentum going, they faced 2nd Seed who had also beaten them on Saturday. Not ready to cave in again, they won 7-4, and took home a hard earned 1st Place.
Thank you to all the teams that played in the Spring Shootout. Here is a list of the Champions and Runner Ups.
See you on the fields
